I am so excited to lead a Women’s Empowerment Trip to Cambodia to participate in the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon (or 5 or 10k distances) to practice active philanthropy and inspire woman to discover their best selves by connecting with their physical power.
I will partnering with Journey’s Within Tour Company, a women operated travel business, to lead a Women’s Empowerment Trip in late November 2018.
As a fitness trainer and wellness and life coach, my passion is inspiring women to take hold of their health and wellness by owning their personal power, facing fears and self-doubt head-on while getting outside of comfort zones to feel extraordinary. I am
dedicated to helping women establish a clear vision of their best selves in mind, body and spirit by providing the right system, support and accountability to run toward that vision at full speed. This tour combines the aspects of working toward a physical goal to feel powerful and strong with philanthropy. It joins the power of shared experience with women and travel. This is going to be a badass experience!
Runners from all over the world participate in the event to support a ban on the manufacturing and inhumane use of antipersonnel mines. Entry fees are used to foster independence among landmine victims by helping provide prosthetic limbs, social reintegration programs. Proceeds also support Children hospitals in Cambodia such as Angkor Children Hospital and Kantha Bopha Children Hospital as well as other relevant and needed programs such as education and prevention of HIV / AIDS.
The experience is open to women of all ages, fitness levels and abilities. Participants can chose to run or walk half marathon, 10k or 5k distances. I will be providing coaching, training and support in the months leading up to the trip and will be supporting participants during the trip itself. Each participant will receive monthly individual coaching consultations to prepare for the physical and emotional aspects of training and travel.
Journeys Within specializes in active philanthropy- the idea that when visiting a country or community, travelers can have a tangible positive impact. Journeys Within believes that their company not only has a responsibility to guests, but also to the countries in which they live and work. This Women’s Empowerment Tour is the perfect example of a travel experience that has positive and lasting impacts on participants and the people and communities in Cambodia.
Andrea Ross, founder of Journeys Within (now a Wild Frontiers company), fell in love with Southeast Asia back in 2003 and set up shop as both a U.S.-based travel agency and a ground operator based in Southeast Asia. Since the very beginning, Ross looked to hire, mentor and encourage women to take on leadership roles within the company and the local community; going so far as to found a non-profit organization – Journeys Within Our Community – that provides scholarship support, continuing education classes and much more to local residents in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
As part of the tour, guests will be visiting the Journeys Within Our Community’s (JWOC) Community Library to interact some children from the surrounding communities. We will have the opportunity to meet Sophary, a former JWOCscholarship student. After graduating university she became the first woman in a demining team in Cambodia. We will be going on Tuk-Tuk adventures, long boat rides, temple visits with a finish on the beaches of Koh Rong.
Andrea Ross and I are thrilled to lead women on this unique and incredible women’s adventure to make a difference in the world and help women embrace their physical and emotional strength in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Bring your bestie. Come with your sister or just come connect and travel with wonderful women ready for adventure and self discovery!
